DNV GL is actively stimulating the development and use of open standards. It is because of that, that we actively participate in standards organizations such as IEC, IEEE and Cigré. In order to really promote the use of such standards and to leverage the learnings from the field back to standards organizations, we actively participate in User groups such as the UCA international User group. We also facilitate and host user groups such as the Dutch/Belgium 104 User group and the European IEC61850 User Group. In the past, DNV GL hosted on a 2 year basis a combined European CS104 and 61850 User group. We have organized very successful events in Amsterdam, Madrid and Rome.
With the increased digitalization and ongoing standardization, as well as the success of previous User Group events, we see a need to organize a User group event in 2017. At Cigré 2016 in Paris, representatives from DNV GL and Federal Grid Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding to organize a User event, together with Cigré Russia regarding digital IEC61850 substations. DNV GL and the National Test Center (NTC) of the Russian grid operator Federal Grid Company took the initiative to organize this, since the chairman’s of Cigré Netherlands and Cigré Russia are directors at respectively DNV GL and Federal Grid Company. A more detailed agenda for the 3-day event will be published soon.
International experts of digital substations will get together at location of NTC in Moscow, Russia from 3 to 5 October 2017. During the event international experts and users of digital IEC61850 based substation will share knowledge, best practices, recent trends and developments regarding all aspects of digital IEC61850 based substations including the status of standardization and upcoming work, the status of digital IEC61850 based substations in Europe, Russia, United States and other parts of the world, the engineering process, interoperability, testing and validation and cyber security aspects.
During the conference, vendors will have the opportunity of exposing the latest products and developments in the area of digital substations. You will have the chance to meet the vendors and learn more about their state-of-the art products. They are more than happy to tell you about their latest developments and plans for the future. Product demonstrations will highlight the capabilities of devices and give an insight into automation possibilities.
